WHAT IS VACUUM SEWERAGE?

Vacuum sewerage is a type of wastewater collection and transport system that differs from traditional gravity-based sewer systems. In vacuum sewerage, sewage, and wastewater are transported through a network of underground pipes using differential air pressure instead of gravity.

In a vacuum sewerage system:

Collection Points: Homes, businesses, and facilities have collection points, known as vacuum interface chambers, connecting them to the sewer network.

Vacuum Stations: Strategically placed in the sewer network contain vacuum pumps and equipment to maintain partial vacuum conditions within the sewer pipes.

Transporting Wastewater: Wastewater from collection points flows into vacuum sewer pipes, where vacuum stations create low-pressure conditions, causing wastewater to move towards these stations.

Collection at Vacuum Stations: Vacuum stations collect and pump wastewater to a central treatment facility.
